Frequently asked questions

Is Satellite Tracker free?

Yes. It is free to download and core tracking is free to use. A Pro plan (monthly, yearly with a 7-day free trial, or lifetime one-time) unlocks collections, Starlink trains, higher render limits and more — current plans are listed on the Subscription & Billing page.

Do I need an account?

No. Satellite Tracker works without an account, and your locations, favorites and records stay on your device.

Does it need an internet connection?

Core features work offline with the data baked into the App. Orbit data updates periodically online to stay accurate — an offline mode keeps the catalog usable without a connection.

Is my location uploaded anywhere?

No. Your location is stored only on your device, and orbit, launch and crew requests never include it. The single exception is the cloud-cover check, which sends coordinates to Apple (WeatherKit) to return local weather.

Where does the data come from?

Orbit data from CelesTrak, launch schedules from Launch Library (The Space Devs), crew information from a public dataset, and star positions from the Yale Bright Star Catalog — all public sources, with attribution in the App.
